RYAN LOVELACE
Fast and flowing in every day conditions
Santa Barbara based shaper Ryan Lovelace has established a worldwide following by creating unique surfboards that combine the spirit of the past with functional aspects of the present day.
The tRev was created in collaboration with surfer Trevor Gordon. The design blends surface area, rocker and performance curves into a highly responsive, fast and flowing surfboard for every day conditions.
It has a flatter nose rocker for flow and speed, yet a medium lift out the back to allow the board to fit into critical turns. The volume and area under the chest enables it to paddle like a dream and carry its speed through flat sections. The concave runs from a deep single into a double through the fins and a deep vee through the tail for great control from rail to rail.
Forgiving in the front end and reactive off the tail. The tRev has a unique feel and loves to draw tight curvy arcs in fun everyday conditions.
Extra features: Aqua blue resin-tint coloring on top and bottom side.

Ryan Lovelace
If one was to ever get bored of their surfing, the equipment they ride, or the lines they draw on a wave, look no further than to Ryan Lovelace to get you all fired up about surfing again.
Santa Barbara based shaper Ryan Lovelace has been making quite a name for himself over the past few years with a DIY approach to surfboard building. Ryan creates truly unique surfboards that pull from the spirit and inspiring designs of the past, while coupling and balancing those elements with the functional aspects of the present day. His approach is all about consistent learning, development and deep personal and creative involvement. All his hard work has been making a buzz, and more and more people are taking notice and seeking out his specialized wave-riding creations.
From the design phase to the shaping, sanding, glassing and application of custom artwork and logos, Ryan himself does it all by himself. He constantly experiments and innovates new ways for people to find the flow, speed and simplicity in their surfing.
Ryan quotes: “Even more than shaping or surfing, I love watching my friends ride my boards. It’s the biggest rush to hang out and watch them actually get what I do in the shaping room. When I see the water flowing off the board and the weight being put into the perfect spot on the board and the wave, it makes me want to shape again. It’s whole reason I’m doing what I am doing.
My desire isn’t to build one board that will satisfy all of anyone’s needs. I want to give you a board that makes you curious and asks you to apply your knowledge, one that grows with you and keeps you engaged.”

Here’s the story of the vBowls as told by Ryan Lovelace.
“Many people assume, since I was heavily into hulls the last few years, that the vBowls is a hull. It’s not. I took what I learned from the research and development that I dedicated to traditional displacement hulls and I directed some of those curves and balances into a template that is much more approachable and adaptable to different waves and surfing styles.”
I flipped my hull template backward and put a really narrow round nose on it, basically stretching and reversing what I’d been shaping for the past couple years. With that came a massive change in foil and balance. Everything shifted from forward to backward, which changed the rocker, the rail line, the deck curve and the thickness flow, but their relationship — how they worked together — stayed the same.
With the vBowls, you keep the ball-bearing feeling and boost that a traditional hull gives you when you step forward on it. It gives you a different wave-riding perspective and has challenged and freed my mind. The vBowls does unique things that other boards won’t. It glides and drives off the bottom superbly. It definitely wants to be in the bowl, and the bowl is where all the magic happens. It persuades you to slow yourself down and check in with what the wave wants you to do. There is something special hidden within the lines that makes it stand alone.”
