The ultimate hybrid

One of the greatest child phenomenons in surfing history, Donald Takayama saved up money from his paper route to buy a plane ticket to travel from one surfing mecca to another. He arrived in Los Angeles in the mid-1950s, a Hawaiian runaway with $10 in his pocket. He was 11 years old. After working with Dale Velzy, Donald quickly became a world-renowned shaper as well as a top ranked surfing competitor.

Over the last 60 years, he has mentored such surfing greats as David Nuuhiwa, Joel Tudor and Kassia Meador until his passing in October 2012. A master shaper, champion surfer and ambassador of aloha, Donald Takayama will be sorely missed by the surfing community.

The Glass Slipper is the ultimate hybrid. With it’s rounded, scooped nose and rounded tail, this little speed demon slips over, past and through anything thrown in it’s path.

This specific Glass Slipper is one of the last boards shaped and signed by master shaper Donald Takayama. It's a true collector's item, preloved but in mint condition and has a sleek bone white resin pigment colouring.

Available size: 6'2 x 20 1/4 x 2 3/4
